The Story of Geri...

In May of 1998 Geri Halliwell made world news when she annouced that she had quit the Spice Girls. Shortly after she left Geri was contacted by both the United Nations to become one of there goodwill ambassadors and by EMI records who has signed Geri for a 3.5 million three solo album deal.


Geri begain to write her debut album which would be called ''Schizophonic'' and had producers Absolute help produce the album. In May of 1999 Geri was ready to release her debut single ''Look At Me''. The song was a campy dance-floor number that quickly became a Top 10 hit all over the world including Geri's home country of the UK where the song charted at #2.


Weeks later Geri released her debut album ''Schizophonic'' which entered the UK Top 75 album charts at a successful #4,the album entered the US Top 50 at #42, which was one of the highest entries by a UK female solo artist in years. With success behind her Geri released her second single the latin-pop fusion ''Mi Chico Latino'' which became Geri's first #1 solo hit.


Geri would contune her success through 1999 with another #1 hit ''Lift Me Up''. The year 2000 was also filled with plenty of Ms Halliwell. She was nominated for two Brit Awards for best Pop Act and Best Female Solo artist that year,won the award for Best British Female singer at the Capital London Radio Awards and scored her third consective number 1 hit ''Bag It Up''.


After some well deserved time off Geri returned to the charts in 2001 with her new single ''Its Raining Men''. The song was the first single to be tacken off her second album ''Scream If You Wanna Go Faster''. The song went right to #1 in the UK giving Geri a record breaking 11 number 1 hits,more then any other female singer in the UK (7 with her former band and 4 solo).The song would become the top selling single in the world for 3 weeks striaght selling over 3 million copies.


The album ''Scream If You Wanna Go Faster'' came out soon after and made a successful chart entry at #5. The single of the same name would be released later that year, giving Geri her sixth Top 10 hit,as it chart at #8. The song was preformed in front of a 100,000 people earlier that year when Geri took the stage at ''Party In the Park'',where she preformed in front of two giant fans and dancing girls.

The year ended with Geri scoring another Top 10 hit, with ''Calling'', which went to #7. Geri Halliwell is still having much success today with endless stories being written about her in the papers and another album coming out soon, which will only add to her seven Top 10 singles,four #1 hits and her 12 million in record sales.
